There are many things in this world that promise to satisfy the heart of man, yet people are still searching. We have more knowledge than ever before, yet many have no peace. We have more possessions than generations before us, yet many still feel empty inside.

The reason is simple. There is a hunger in every soul that only Jesus Christ can satisfy.

That is why this ministry bears the name Bread of Life.

When God declared in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst,” He was not speaking of natural bread. He was revealing Himself as the only source of eternal life, lasting peace, abiding joy, and unshakable hope.

Those words have become the foundation of this ministry. They shape our preaching, guide our worship, direct our service, and remind us that everything we do must lead people to Jesus Christ. If people remember our name but never meet our Savior, we have failed our assignment.

In the year 2000, God dealt with our hearts in a way we could not ignore. After years of ministry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, God called me and my wife to leave what was familiar and come to Fond du Lac. From a natural standpoint, it did not seem to make sense. We did not come because there was a great crowd waiting. We did not come because there was comfort or convenience. We came because when God speaks, His servants must obey.

We believed then, and we believe now, that there were hungry souls in this city. Not hungry for another religion or another denomination, but hungry for a real encounter with the living Christ. We came believing that God had already prepared hearts to receive His Word and that He would build His Church according to His purpose.

Over the years, this ministry has grown, our name has changed, and new chapters have been written, but one thing has never changed. Jesus Christ is still the Bread of Life.

Many people know us throughout Fond du Lac as The Gray Church, and that name has come to mean something special to us. Gray reminds us that God’s family is larger than any race, culture, generation, or social background. Around the cross, the walls that divide people come down. In the Kingdom of God, we are one family, washed in the same blood, saved by the same grace, and serving the same Lord.

That spirit has always been the heartbeat of this ministry. We have never desired to build a church that looked like one neighborhood or one people. Our prayer has always been to build the kind of church Heaven will recognize, where every person is welcomed with love, every soul is valued, and every life is pointed toward Jesus Christ.

The ministry God has entrusted to us does not end when the benediction is given. Faith must be lived beyond the four walls of the sanctuary. That is why we serve our community, feed those in need, encourage families, pray for the broken, and labor for unity throughout our city. The Bread of Life was never meant to be kept to ourselves. It was always meant to be shared.

If you should choose to visit us, do not come looking for a church devoid of praise, because you will not find one. Come looking for Jesus. Come expecting to hear the uncompromising Word of God, to experience heartfelt worship, and to be welcomed by people who sincerely love the Lord and love His people.

Whether you have walked with Christ for many years or are taking your very first steps toward Him, know this. There is room for you. There is hope for you. There is grace for you.

Our prayer is that when you leave Bread of Life Cathedral of Hope, you will not simply remember the building or the message. Our prayer is that you will leave having encountered the One who declared, “I am the bread of life.” For when you truly meet Him, you will discover that the deepest hunger of your soul can only be satisfied by Jesus Christ.
